Dateline-August 14th. Piru Lake 13 teams gathered on this day for the 7th event of the 2005 CBC circuit. Expectations were not high as the pre-fish had been very tough. These expectations came to light as only four fish were weighed in, making it one of the toughest events in club history.

Clyde is certainly becoming one to look out for, especially when things are tough. On this day, fishing out of the back of Doug’s boat, Clyde propelled the team to victory on the strength of a 3.35lb hawg, the big fish of the day. Awesome job guys!

Finishing in second were Mike Lander and Mike Forslund with two fish totaling 2.39lbs, and as such were the only team to weigh in more than one fish. Mr. Lander’s fishing is supported by Maxima Line, Aim Marine, Team Davies Tackle Company and St Croix. Mr Forslund counts Triton, Aim Marine, Evinrude and Seaguar line as his supporters. Great job guys!

Rounding out the top three in this very tough tournament were Mark Poulson and Ralph Rosas Jr. with one fish weighing 1.94lbs, which Ralph caught early while the lake was still fogged over. Great job guys!

Our next event will be out of Castaic’s West ramp on September 11th. We hope to see all of you out there for a great showing!

BBQ’s

A huge thanks to all of those who helped out with this summer’s night tournament BBQ’s! If you helped out it will be reflected in your annual dues next January as you get $3 off for every fundraiser you help out with. And it looks like we made around $1000 from these five events. Great money to help fund camping trips, banquets, your year end trophies, and our club challenge event at Havasu in November.

That’s the good news. The bad news is that there is no guarantee that we will even host these BBQ’s next summer. The biggest reason for this is that is seems that the same ole folks always help out, and this represents only a fraction of the clubs total membership. If you want these fundraisers, everyone has to pitch in, even if it only once or twice a year. Your next chance to volunteer will be at the Love Ride on November 13th. Please come on out and take the load off the usual volunteers.

We will also need all of you to start thinking about who will serve on the executive board for next season. Several of the current executive members who have served for several years will not be working in that capacity next year and are in agrreement that new blood is needed with new ideas. Nominations will be taken in October and voting will take place in November. We hope members will thing about being a member of this committee as you can have a great hand in helping to shape the future of this club.
