11 teams met on this beautiful day for a
friendly little fishing competition.
There was certainly a feeling of
solidarity; after all, what could be more
American than celebrating freedom by
going fishing on September 11th?!
Finishing first were Mike Lander and son
with a great limit weighing 14.39lbs, led
by a 3.17lb kicker. Not only does it
appear that Mike may be closing in on
the Angler of the Year award, but he
continues to be very quiet and humble
about the whole experience. And of
course, Mike, who is supported in his
fishing by Skeeter, St. Croix, Team
Davies tackle company, and Maxima
Line, continues to donate product on a
monthly basis for our meeting raffles.
Thanks Mike, we appreciate your
support!
Finishing in second place were Jeff Jue
and Dave Eberle with another limit, this
one going 9.82lbs. Jeff wanted to send
along a special thanks to his sponsors,
Fish Hedz and DC worms. Jeff also said
that Dave’s aggressive demeanor was a
big part of their success!! Great job
guys!
Finishing in third place were Mike
Forslund and Mike Gioia with four fish
totaling 7.42 lbs. Mike G. commented
that Forslund’s perfect boat positioning
was a big part of their success! Mr.
Gioia, by the way, has just returned to the
club after a one year absence. Welcome
back Mike!
And nice going to Karl on catching the
3.60lb big fish!
Of special mention was the great day I
had on the water with Bo Viescas.
Somehow we were able to keep Mark P.
off our spots and, with the full
encouragement of J.D., were able to
catch three boiling fish in the back of
“Old Fecal Matter House” Cove. Thanks
guys, and thanks
Bo, you’re a true gentleman!
Last meeting
A huge thanks to club favorite Bill
Siemental, who gave a great speech as
always. And a huge thanks to Bill for all
the great items he donated to our
fundraising raffle!
2006 CBC Circuit
Another major topic of discussion was the
finalizing of our tournament schedule for
next year. Before looking at the list,
remember a few things: April’s date had
to be forwarded one week due to a
conflict with Easter Sunday.
May’s date was moved due to a conflict
with Mother’s Day weekend. The lake
was also changed due to low water
conditions at Lake Perris. The August
dates were changed due to a conflict
with a night tourney at Castaic, when we’
ll all be out at the BBQ. So here is your
2006 schedule:
February 12th-Piru
March 12th-Casitas
April 23rd-Pyramid
May 20th-Pyramid #
June 11th-Castaic
July 16th-Castaic
August 19th-20th-Cachuma
September 17th-Castaic
Challenge event (non-points)
October 15th-Casitas November
12-Pyramid * #=Saturday event
*=may have to be changed to
November 19th due to a
conflict with the Love Ride.
Speaking of the Love Ride, it
will be held on November 13th
and once again we will be
looking for Volunteers at the
meeting to run our fundraiser
beer booth. And don’t forget, ya’
ll need to start thinking about
who should be nominted for
next year’s club officers.
Several new people will need
to fill these spots, as we need
some new blood and ideas in
there!
Please note that our next
meeting will be at the same
pizza joint that we were at last
time. The address is 24504
Lyons Avenue in Newhall.
