Pyramid Lake
You know the old saying: if you want bad weather, just hold a bass tournament. This
certainly held to form as the CBC circuit headed to this grapevine lake for the 4th event of
the 2006 season. Bitter cold temperatures with cloud cover and steady breezes met 13 of
the toughest teams in Southern California.
Apparently the fish didn’t care about the weather as they were in a full blown spring pattern,
with lots of small fish but not much size. Finding some of the better fish were Mike Carpenter
and Linda Taylor Bell, who connected for a first place limit weighing 13.8lbs, led by a 3.6lb
kicker. Great job!
Taking second were Mike Stern and Mike Iljin with another nice limit weighing 10.9 lbs, with a
kicker of 3.1lbs. Rumor has it that Stern pre-fished with Iljin and pulled him around in his float
tube in order to locate fish. Great job gentlemen!
Taking third were Karl and Victor, who, by the way, was fishing his first event with our club.
Karl said that while he was busy catching trout Victor was busy catching bass, including the
4lb event big fish. Great job guys, to the tune of a 10.5lb limit! And great job to weigh
master Mark Poulson for holding a very fast and efficient weigh in!
Our next event will be back at Pyramid on May 20th, a Saturday. We hope to have another
great turnout!
Last meeting
A huge thanks to Ron Cervenka for giving a great speech at our last meeting. Ron, as
always, gave a very entertaining and informative speech. A huge thanks to Ron for donating
a Huddleston Deluxe lure and a Powell Rod, items which were won by Richard Cook and Mike
Iljin. Thanks again Ron!
The speaker at our next meeting will be Terry Nagel, a local guide who won the recent night
tournament at Castaic.
Speaking of night tournaments, thanks to all of those who helped out with the BBQ at that
event. For those of you who purchased food, please bring your receipt to the next meeting
so Linda can reimburse you.
Thanks also to all of those who helped out with the recent float tube event. It was a big
success with 34 tubers in attendence.
Congratulations to Mike Lander and Josh Logerot for their 1st place finish at the recent
Anglers Choice event at Castaic-to the tune of over $2000 in winnings! Check out the
