Castaic Lake West Ramp
13 teams showed up on this day for the 6th event of the 2006 CBC circuit. Unlike the
previous weekend when anglers broiled under 100 degree temperatures, this day was much
more pleasant, with overcast conditions prevailing until around noontime, with pleasant
weather lasting all the way through the 2pm weigh in time.
Taking first place were Mike Carpenter and the Mayor of Fillmore, Manny Nunez, with a fine
limit weighing 15.8lbs, led by the event big fish of 4.1lbs. Rumor has it that Mike caught
many of the fish on his Japanese specialty lures while Manny was busy landing stripers in the
back of the boat. Great job gentlemen (you too Manny)!
Taking second was Mike Stern along with new members Jonathan and Danny with a nice
limit weighing 15lbs even. Mike reported that they boated around 40 fish throughout the
day. A huge thanks goes to Mike for allowing two non-boaters on his Champion. Great job
guys!!
Taking third were Jeff and Brian with another fine limit weighing 14.9lbs led by a nice 3.5lb
kicker. This was the 6th straight top four 2006 finish for Jeff, who has been on a hot streak
since last November. Great job guys!
The fishing was so good on this day that 12 out of 13 teams caught limits. Great job to Mark
Poulson for running a fast and efficient weigh in. We hope to see you at our next event at
Castaic’s West ramp on July 16th.
Last meeting
A huge thanks to club favorite Dan Warme for being the guest speaker at our last meeting.
Also discussed was our 2007 tournament schedule that should be finalized soon.
Volunteering for club fundraisers
A huge thanks to all of those who have helped out with the first two night tournament BBQ’s.
As you know, these events help fund our camping trips, our club banquet, end of the year
trophies, and a variety of other things that we could simply not afford if we just depended on
members’ monthly dues. At the last night tournament, we had only four members who were
able to make it out to lend a hand. To say the least, this is beyond pitiful. We have around
30 members, and four showing up is embarrassing and puts a huge load on the usual crew.
All you need to do is come out for a couple of hours a couple of times a year to help out, and
that’s it! If everyone does this then it will take a load off the back of just a handful of regular
volunteers. The next event is Friday night, July 14th at 5pm at the West Ramp. Please
come on out! You get $$$ off you annual dues each time you volunteer!!
