Club heads to Casitas
The second tournament of the 2007 CBC circuit took place at this Ventura County
Lake on February 11th. This lake is known for it’s monster sized bass and hopes
were high that the lake would produce a few of these toads.

First place on this date went to Mike Stern and Victor with a nice limit weighing
14.54 lbs. Included in this total was Victor’s 7.66 lb toad, the big fish of the event.
Word has it that dropshotted worms were their ticket to success. Great job guys!

Finishing second were Mark Poulson and Doug with three fish totaling 12.83 lbs.
Included in this sack was a nice 6.5 lb toad. Great job fellas!

Taking third were Mike Carpenter and Mike G with a limit of 12.19 lbs. This sack
was led by a nice kicker of 4.04 lbs. Way to go guys!

Next meeting and tournament
Our next meeting will be held on March 8th with the tournament to be held the
following Sunday the 11th. The tournament will be held at Lake Piru with a non-
boater fee of $30. Word has it that someone will steal all of Jeff’s swimbaits before
the event!

News and Notes
Great Job to Mike Lander and past club speaker Ray Leyerly on winning the recent
Angler’s Choice tournament on Castaic. The team weighed in a 20 lb sack led by a 9
lb kicker for total winnings of over $2000!

The Friends of Castaic Lake will be hosting a Charity tournament out of Castaic’s
West Ramp on Saturday, April 7th. This tournament will help benefit the lake’s Jr.
Lifeguard program and the Samuel Dixon Family Health Clinic. We hope many club
members will team up to fish the event, and would also hope some folks will help
out with running the tournament. A huge raffle will be held afterwards (and a
possible rummage sale as well) and we hope members will help out by donating
product for the raffle (especially if you have generous sponsors who would like to
help)!

FOCL will also be hosting the annual Lower Lake float tube bass derby on April
21st. We will be in need of volunteers in boats in order to weigh fish for
competitors. Entry forms for both events will be available soon on castaiclake.com
and also in the Castaic Lake booth at the Long Beach Fred Hall show.
