The last tournament of the season was the club Tournament of Champions on December 7th out of Castaic’s West Ramp. Taking 1st were the editor and Mike Carpenter with a limit weighing 12.84lbs, led by the big fish of 3.24lbs. I have to give Mike all the credit as he knew the spots to go to and the baits to throw. He even knew how to catch the exotics as a huge 18lb carp grabbed his custom made Japanese spoon on the first cast of the day. Thanks for a great day on the water Mike!!
Taking 2nd were farmer Mike Iljin and Ken Rideout with four fish totaling 7.43lbs. Mike stated that he “farmed” several nice ones in the morning, as the fish were hitting short all morning.
The rest of the you guys did not weigh your fish….come on, perpetual plaque plates were at stake!!
Banquet
The annual club banquet took place at El Chapparel in Canyon Country on December 21st. Everyone enjoyed the great buffet of chicken, bacon, sausage, omelets, etc…and the camaraderie as well! There were many excellent prizes, provided by our very generous sponsors: Action Tackle, J&T Tackle, Randy at Roboworm, Gary McNaught of McSpinns, the Trolling Motor Doctor, and Grant from Sun Country Marine. Also a huge thanks to Mike Lander and Roger Laroque, who supported us with product throughout the year. Please remember to support those who support us!
Tons of awards were also given out, including the Angler of the Year plaque to Victor, and the Big Fish award to Ron Licari. I was fortunate enough to get the Non boater AOY plaque. I must give due credit to all the great boaters that I fished with this past year, it was a great run!
Next club events
Remember, the 1st meeting is coming up January 8th at 7PM, with the tournament the following Sunday at Castaic. The scheduled guest speaker at our meeting is veteran pro Jerry Ballesteros.
